OMRS employs about 90 direct support staff people in our eight group homes, some full time and some part time. The needs of the individuals living in the homes dictate 24-hour awake staff, and at least one staff member is on duty anytime a resident is at home.
Each home has a Program Manager. This person is responsible for supervising staff in the home and assuring the provision of appropriate resident services, as well as compliance with the Oregon Administrative Rules.
An Assistant Program Manager provides training and gives leadership to the house staff in making sure that individual resident needs are met. This person also performs some administrative tasks and has special responsibility to monitor the medical needs of residents.
Direct support staff pass medications, implement behavior support plans, prepare meals, participate in outings and activities with the residents, and encourage a feeling of family within the home.
Direct support staff hired by OMRS must be:
1. At least 18 years old.
2. Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
3. Able to successfully complete required trainings, such as med administration, first aid, and CPR.
4. Pass a criminal history check.
5. Be drug free.
6. For certain positions, the individual must qualify as a driver for company owned vehicles.
